Graffiti in Greece

One thing that was somewhat surprising about our trip to Greece was the pervasiveness of graffiti. Everywhere we went, people had taken it upon themselves to decorate the spaces around them.

The only places that were mostly free of graffiti were the A-list archaeological sites – places that were gated and guarded, and places that were brand new like the National roads.

The graffiti ranged from artistic to incomprehensible…

Commonplace to clever…

Some in English…

Lots of Antifa and other anarchist graffiti…

Would-be artists often use stencils…

Signs and posts are almost universally covered with stickers…

Even the signs inside the jetway at the airport had been doctored…
