Or we could do Iliad, Odyssey, and Aeneid while walking in the heroes footsteps! Wouldn’t it be awesome to follow Aeneas from Troy (Turkey) to Tyre (Lebanon) and on to Carthage (Tunisia)!? Then we could pick up the trail of Hannibal (Dido’s Avenger) and check out North Africa, Gibraltar, the Alps, and finally Hannibal’s and Aeneas’ trails would come back together at Rome!
I doubt if Elise would get a kick out of that sort of literary travel, but I might be able to offer some sort of incentive for her to tag along. She has said that one of her bucket list activities is to swim in the Mediterranean. I wonder if the Aegean Sea would be close enough?
