This looks like a ton of fun! Salto del Pastor is a traditional shepherd travel practice in the Canary Islands. Basically a mashup of hiking and pole vaulting!
The shepherds would carry a long pole – they look to be 10-14 feet long – to help them traverse rocky ground. It is cool to watch these guys (and gals) not only easing themselves gently down from a precipice, but also ascending rocks and walls to higher ground!
I bet it would make a beginner’s arms and shoulders and lats awfully sore, but I bet it’d be worth it!
