Some time back I posted five of our craziest grand adventures that we want to fit in before we kick off, and a week or two later I posted a handful of the smaller adventures that we are planning to lead up to our Kilimanjaro trek in January 2018.
Here’s another handful of places that we’d love to have adventures. There’s really no end to the wonders we’ve yet to see on this amazing planet!
Swim in the Mediterranean
If anyone has a luxury yacht they’d be willing to captain for us for a day or two, we’re willing! Elise wants to swim in the water and view the Strait of Gibraltar. Fishing would be a bonus, but a quick dip and a day trip would fill this bucket up!
Shop and eat in Casablanca, Morocco
Maybe there was a movie-inspired hankering for visiting this place in person, but for whatever reason, we want to stroll through the market, sample local fares, buy a few souvenirs and call it a day!
Float in the Dead Sea, visit Qumran, walk the Via Dolorosa
Elise loves water, so having a chance to float in this would make her one happy Mamma. We would love to visit Qumran and soak up some history, and walk the Via Dolorosa as a sort of pilgrimage.
Walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain
Speaking of pilgrimages, making a long hike immersed in history and church tradition would be right up Patrick’s alley, and this would make Camino de Santiago a perfect trek for the Roaming Parkers! A long hike plus the traditional burial site of Saint James! That’d be cool!
Eat sushi in Tokyo – climb Fuji-san, visit Hiroshima
One of our sons calls himself a “pescetarian,” which is his millennial excuse for not eating beef, pork, or chicken. In the mean time, we have adjusted our family meals and found a deep appreciation and love of Japanese food. To sample some from the source, rather than an Americanized version, would be a dream-come-true.
