I love Alastair Humphreys’ blog because it is right in line with what the Roaming Parkers are and what we want to be.
The Roaming Parkers want to live a life of travel, outdoor adventure, and conservation, and we want to help people get unstuck from the rat race and to reconnect with a more real, more natural, more sustainable, and more adventurous lifestyle. And that is largely what Humphreys is about too!
Humphreys is the National Geographic Adventurer of the Year for 2012 and has written a bunch of books, but his blog is the part that is of most interest to me!
For the past several years he has been blogging and writing about the idea of what he calls Microadventures – bite-sized nuggets of adventure that begin at your doorstep, take you to places you’ve never been to do things that challenge you, then get you back home in time go go to work on Monday.
His blog is a blast, with over 1800 articles about adventures both micro- and grand!
He’s even written a book about Microadventures, with tons of suggestions for breaking free from the rat race even if briefly in order to have an adventure short enough to get back to work!
